Dona Marta Slum & Tijuca’s Forest

In this tour we visit the Dona Marta slum, one of the most traditional slums in Rio, where we can watch the routine of this community.
It is located in Botafogo district and has been the first such community to receive an overwhelming program of rehabilitation and social services implemented by the state government.
The views from the top of the hill where the favela is located are superb. A very interesting tour where guests would see how the local government is dealing with the housing problem in the city and how to develop the poorer communities.
Next, we go to the Tijuca Atlantic Forest, the largest urban forest in the world. This tour includes a small walk in a forest trail up to the Cascatinha Fall.
Tijuca’s Forest
Duration: 4 hours PICK-UP TIME: 9:00AM and 2:00PM
In this tour, we visit the Tijuca Atlantic Forest, the largest urban forest in the world stopping at the Chinese View belvedere with a magnificent view of the Ipanema and Copacabana beaches, the Guanabara Bay and the Sugar Loaf.
Inside the forest, we walk through a trail of easy tracking. During the tour, usually we can see tropical animals like monkeys, monkeys sloths and exotic birds.
On the way back to the hotel, we stop at the Pepino Beach to watch the hang gliders.
Pick-up in convertible Jeeps at the hotel - Horto Florestal Road - stop at the Monkeys Waterfall - stop at Chinese View Belvedere - Emperor's Table - stop at Cascatinha Fall - Mayrink Chapel - tracking - Canoas Road - Pepino Beach - return to the hotel.
Corcovado and Tijuca’s Forest

At the Corcovado Hill, located in the Tijuca Atlantic Forest, the largest urban forest in the world, is the statue of Christ the Redeemer, one of Rio's most famous postcards.
The Corcovado Hill, together with D.Marta belvedere, is a mandatory tour in Rio for the beauty of the sightseeing from both locations. From the Corcovado, we can see the beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon, the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon and the Botanical Garden. From the D. Marta belvedere, the main attractions are the Maracanã stadium, the Guanabara Bay and the Sugar Loaf.
This tour includes a small walk in a forest trail up to the Cascatinha Fall.
ROUTE: Pick-up in convertible Jeeps at the hotel - Cosme Velho street - stop at D.Marta belvedere - stop at Corcovado - Paineiras Road - stop at Afonso Viseu Square - walk throughout a trail up to the Cascatinha Fall - Canoas Road - Pepino Beach - return to the hotel.
Obs: Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, the access to the Corcovado is through the Sumaré Road.
Corcovado & Santa Teresa District
Duration: 3 hours. PICK-UP TIME: 9:00AM and 2:00PM

Macumba
Duration: 4 hours PICK-UP TIME: 19:30PM
In this tour we visit a temple of Macumba with the rituals of Umbanda and Candomblé, cults brought to Brasil by the African slaves. There we can watch the religious syncretism, where the African mythic gods and goddesses take the image of saints of the Christian religion.
The tourists may just watch the rituals or, if they like so, participate making whishes and consulting their spiritual guides.
JEEPS DO NOT MAKE THIS TOUR. The pick-up is by Vans or buses, depending on the number of pax
ROUTE: Pick-up at the hotel - Pai Jerônimo's temple at Rio Comprido - return to the hotel.

Grumari
Duration: 6h. Mínimum of pax and Pick-up at the hotel: under advise
Visiting the west zone of Rio de Janeiro, still hardly explored by national and international tourism, we can observe the beauty of the city so called Wonder City, with the contrast between the blue of the sea and the green of the Atlantic Forest.
Region of old coffee plantations, which still keeps some treasuries as the Montserrat Chapel, built by the Benedictine monks in 1720, side by side with a almost untouched piece of the Atlantic Forest - environmental area (APA of Grumari) - has also a sophisticated gastronomy association where you can find restaurants with traditional Brazilian country and seafood meals.
In this tour we make an approximately 40 minutes walk through a trail within the forest to the top a hill from where we can see the beaches of Barra da Tijuca and Grumari
After the tracking, we go back to the jeep for a small off-road trail till the beach where we can go for a bath and swim, and where a pick-nick can be served.
We return by the Americas Avenue where a New Rio can be seen with modern buildings and shopping centers showing the contrast of a city where the modern lives together with the ancient.

Old Coffee Farms (off Rio)

This tour is a real time travel. Only at an one-hour distance from Rio ant the Piraí District, in the middle of the Atlantic Forest, is possible to observe the luxury and splendorous life of the 18th and 19th centuries Brazilian Coffee Barons.
Huge farms, old coffee beans plantations, with their Main Houses and Slaves Lounges (SENZALAS), open their doors to public visitation, as live museums.
The tour consists of one nightstand and breakfast at the Hotel Fazenda Arvoredo and on the next day, a tracking through the Atlantic Forest and visit to farms at the neighborhood on convertible jeeps.
Arriving at the hotel, an old farm itself, there is a show performing the Baron's family life and their habits during the climax of the coffee cycle. At the other farms visited, there is an explanation of the Barons day-by-day living and their family, slaves and coffee dealers relationship. Some farms have slave museums and regional goods like cachaça, sausages, biscuits and compotes for sale.
For the good old music lovers, the small village of Conservatória, at 15 minutes form the hotel, is a traditional bohemia center of "Seresta" (Brazilian romantic music) with lots of pubs and bistros opened all night long during the weekends.
